Abstract
The paper focuses on the importance of the natural environment within the social work profession. Even though there exists a social work tradition of combining ecological and social aims in Germany, this connection plays currently no role despite the utmost urgency of the environmental problems. The paper shows this by examining the ethic codes of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Therefore, the social work profession needs to take a stance regarding sustainability and environmental protection.
