Abstract
In this article we examine feminist pedagogy as a question of knowledge production that acknowledges environmental crises and aims at producing ecologically responsible agency. We focus, first, on different feminist pedagogical approaches and the ways in which they enable different kinds of knowledge production on environmental issues. Second, building on queer pedagogy, we outline a pedagogy of differences that takes into account environmental questions and approaches them through acknowledging their unsettling epistemic potential. We propose that this kind of unsettlement in the face of knowledge facilitates the understanding of the ways in which various differences and uneasy affects contribute to knowledge production. It therefore helps to challenge the concepts, phenomena and understandings of which ‘environment’ and the crises related to it consist. Finally, we offer a critical discussion on how the university institution functions as a framework for producing knowledge at the crossroads of feminist pedagogy and environmental crises.
