Abstract
Achilles tendinopathy is a relatively common musculoskeletal problem. Although Achilles tendinopathy is generally perceived as a load-related problem, the diversity of factors contributing to the onset of the condition must be considered both in clinical reasoning and in the selection of treatment lines. The clinical evaluation of Achilles tendinopathy is largely based on the symptoms reported by the patient and on careful clinical examination to rule out possible other causes. Based on the interview and examination, the risk factors underlying the complaint, as well as mechanisms affecting the provocation of symptoms, are charted. Load control, training to improve tendon load capacity, and patient guidance focusing on risk factors form the basis of rehabilitation in Achilles tendinopathy. Individual preferences and goals are taken into account when carrying out rehabilitation.
