General description

My main research area is teaching and learning in higher education. I am especially interested in students' and employees' learning at the interface of education and work, development of students' generic skills, learning at the workplace, and teachers' professional development.  I have also conducted research projects in the field of vocational education and training.  

During 2010-2014 I served as the editor-in-chief of Educational Research Review. As to community engagement, I have acted in several positions of trust such as a member of the Finnish Education Evaluation Council in 2008-2013, and a member of the Evaluation of Group of Higher Education Pedagogy in Finland in 2022-2023..

My research area is teaching and learning in higher education. This research produces knowledge that can be used for the development of teaching. In addition to teachers and students, workplaces benefit of this research as they get more competent employees from universities.
