General description
I am a doctoral candidate in public and social policy, but I mainly identify as a political economy scholar. In my dissertation, I research the policies and ideas purported to improve Finland’s national competitiveness during the 2010s, as well as their outcomes in various contexts.
In 2018-2022 I worked in the “Tiedontuotannon regiimit ja asiantuntijavalta (TIRAS)” research project hosted by the University of Helsinki.

Research interests
My research is situated in the fields of political economy, industrial relations, and welfare state scholarship. Theoretically, my aim has been to critically explore the potentials of policy ideas and ideational scholarship in explaining the contents, processes and outcomes of public policymaking. Metatheoretically, I am interested in the intersections of critical realism and constructivism. Methodologically, my research aims at being explanatory, occasionally via immanent criticism.
