Research interests
The title of my PhD project is “Direction of decentralisation: models in regional cultural policies in Finland and Sweden”. The study discusses changes in regional cultural policy administration in Finland and Sweden in 1995–2015 when an ideological shift from welfare state to competition state has led to state restructuring and rescaling in the Nordic countries (Goodwin & al. 2006, Kazepov 2010, Lægreid & Verhoest 2010, Moisio 2012). Research questions are 1) What are the similarities and dissimilarities in the structures of regional cultural policy administration in Finland and Sweden in 1995–2015?, and 2) Is it possible to distinguish two models in regional cultural policies in both countries? Methodologically, the study will apply comparative analysis based on both qualitative (legal and administrative documents, secondary data) and quantitative data (financial statistics). The research is carried out in 2015–2019 as an article-based dissertation comprising of four articles.
