Tuija Virkki (PhD, adjunct professor) is a Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

Research interests

Tuija Virkki received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Jyväskylä in 2004. In her recent researches Virkki has studied, for example, discourses of violence and hate speech, interaction between national and transnational policies on domestic violence, practices of encountering violence in social and health care institutions, violence in close relationships and workplaces, subjectivity and embodiment, gendered emotional cultures, ethics of care, political constructions of social exclusion and restructuring of social service system
