Research interests

I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Gerontology Research Centre and the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences as well as in the JYU.Well wellbeing research community. My research focuses on resilience and healthy aging based on the perspectives of systems thinking and complexity. The human body and its functioning can also be seen as a complex system, consisting of different domains (e.g. physical, mental and cognitive) and their interactions that form a whole. I am therefore interested in exploring whether similar generalities can be observed in human functioning as have been observed in the resilience, or lack thereof, of other complex systems. In addition, I am interested in investigating the role of different life course factors (e.g., environment, social relationships, lifestyle) in resilience during aging.
