Summary

The magnitude of the mismatch between the detected yield and the theory prediction for elastic recoil detection analysis have been measured. The energy range for incident ions were varied between 4-40 MeV and scattering measurements have been conducted in both Jyväskylä and Helsinki Accelerator laboratories. Samples to define the detected recoil and scattering yields were obtained in collaboration from the Technical Research Centre of Finland, OtaNano infrastructure. PhD student hired for the project have now been actively doing the data-analysis of the measurements to determine the trend of this mismatch. The PhD student also spend 3 month mobility period at the ETH Zürich for the Gas detector development studies. During the Project the PI applied co-financing possibility (30% of the PI’s time can be used other tasks than the Project). This actually supports the original project plan as the ‘extra’ time have mostly been used to develop commercial state-of-the-art ToF-ERDA spectrometers and with this extra funding I have been able to try also new ideas for the purposes of the project’s original aims. The Potku software development has been supported by both the project and the commercial TOF-ERD funding. Currently 3 part-time students are working to develop the code further and the two webinar sessions held for the software had total more than 60 attendance from 10 different laboratories. Other results have also been disseminated in the conferences like IBA, ECAART and CAARI.
