Summary

Content and language integrated learning (CLIL) has spread in Europe since the 1990s as a response to increasingly mutilingaul realities. One of the greatest problems plaguing CLIL implementation is catering to diversity, as there is a lack materials, resources and methodological and evaluative guidelines to step up to it successfully. It is precisely the niche which the present project seeks to fill. It has three main objectives: to identify difficulties and best practices in catering to diversity in intercultural and content integrated language learning and teaching; to produce and implement project,-, task-, and ICT-based activities to make CLIL accessible to all types of achievers; and to design and pilot a teacher training module to empower practitioners to step up to this important challenge. The ultimate aim is to contribute to the integration of all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, educational background, or achievement level and to contribute to making CLIL accessible to all. The transnational nature of the project is absolutely pivotal, as learning form the best practices of others is key to continue advancing on this front. Furthermore, the markedly European character of CLIL makes it necessary for the topic to be broached from a transnational perspective, covering northern, southern, and central Europe. The lessons gleaned from the project will also be disseminable and applicable across the entire continent.
