Summary
The objective of the DigiPhysLab -project is to support physics departments around Europe and the rest of world in implementing high-quality digital laboratory works for distance learning.
The project results will be:
- Sharing of information, knowledge and experiences between the project partners and the physics faculty of those universities. The inclusion of the faculty in different universities will also promote their understanding on how best to incorporate digital online technology into physics teaching.
- Production of a framework to outline the different types of laboratory tasks for distance learning. This framework will aid faculty at different physics departments as well in departments of other natural sciences (and possibly also high school teachers) in implementing high-quality digital laboratory tasks for distance learning.
- Production and evaluation of 15 digital physics laboratory tasks which cover the different fields of physics while highlighting the different possibilities that these sorts of tasks have (link to the framework. Each task will include all the necessary material i.e. possible videos, equipment to use, student instructions, worksheets etc. These tasks will utilize different digital technologies ranging from using smartphone sensors to conduct measurements and data collection to using open-source software to conduct data analysis. The tasks will be piloted and evaluated by the participating organizations via collecting data from students. The final versions of the tasks will be published on the project website.
