General description
I am a professor of nanophysics. My research focuses on controlling nanoscale thermal transport using phononic crystals, metamaterials and phonon tunneling. In addition, we develop superconducting materials and devices for use in quantum technologies, and use novel nanofabrication methods such as helium ion irradiation (HIM) and 3D laser lithoraphy for physics and intrdisciplinary applications.

Research interests
I study fundamentally new ways to control the flow of heat, by using its wave nature, and applications that follow from those principles. Examples are the development of novel X-ray materials analysis instruments, and conversion of thermal waste energy into electricity. In addition, I develop novel superconducting and nanoscale devices based on advanced nanolithographical techniques. I stress that fundamental research is necessary for the future of all of humankind.
