Tiivistelmä
The need for this project arises from a European wide need to develop curricular solutions to meet the requirements of the 21st Century - to coach learners with skills that enable them to operate as lifelong learners, using ICT-based frameworks that support school engagement through socio-digital tools and environments as a part of natural learning. According toresearch, learners are in danger of losing motivation in the contexts of school participation if learning does not correspond to their ways of being. Through focusing on future skills we prepare learners for the times ahead, so our solution focused method aims to help schools preventing dropouts through agency-centered pedagogy and the use of ICT. We are also aiming create fresh approaches for learning affecting to beliefs and attitudes in school context. We are aware that sense of belonging is chancing not disappearing through "network society" and therefore our framework Europe as School is needed.
This three year project aims to create and share innovative practices to help schools decrease rates of early school leaving and exclusion. This will be achieved through the sharing and development of collaborative solutions focused on teaching methods that may enable pupils:
- building sound self-esteem and social-emotional skills;
- acquiring state-of-the-art workplace and contextually relevant ICT knowledge and skills (career technical education);
-bridging the gap between schools, homes and the surrounding community - a holistic approach;
-deriving a better understanding of themselves in relation to one another in their surroundings, transnational community and worldwide (systemic approach to learning).
In this process, online media technology is used to both communicate and create knowledge, as well as a pedagogical space where students are engaged in a range of creative activities and knowledge use.
Solution and project based learning, using ICT as a tool, affords the learners a possibility to reinforce their 21st century skills bringing together different kinds of learners, also using out-of-school gained and used socio-digital tools and platforms in the intended learning processes.
