Abstract

This article draws attention to the range of expertise that contribute to bilingual education. The ‘CLIL pie’ presented here highlights the need for teachers to recognise the expertise they bring to bilingual education and the value of collaboration. After a brief introduction to bilingual education within the Finnish Core Curriculum for Basic Education, the segments of the CLIL pie are explained. The final section of this article acknowledges the particular challenge of teaching through a foreign language and the need to carefully consider how to share the CLIL pie.
