Research interests

My research focuses on language, social interaction and embodied action in a variety of everyday settings. I use video-based methods and apply multimodal conversation analysis to investigate the details of language use and interaction in authentic situations and environments. I have done research on language learning as interactional activity in classrooms, everyday interactions at home and work, and digital environments. My studies have focused on young people's language practices and interaction with video games, adult learners' interaction in service encounters and work related settings.
